Basketball Orbit is a free browser physics game where your goal is to sink a basketball from over 100 feet away. You do not have to nail it in a single shot. Click to keep the ball moving forward, read a color meter to time each click, and eventually drop the ball straight into the hoop. The game runs in your browser with no download and no sign-up, so it is playable unblocked at school or work on any device.

What is Basketball Orbit

Basketball Orbit is a 2D skill and physics game built around a single mechanic: a color meter that decides how well each click sends the ball forward. You watch the meter cycle through red, yellow, orange, and green, and you click at the right moment. Green launches the ball high; yellow advances it partway; red barely gets it off the ground. Your overall score is calculated from three attributes you can upgrade: strength, speed, and bounce.

Controls

The whole game is driven by one button. Up close, mouse position also matters for aiming.

The color meter and how scoring works

Every click is graded by the color meter at the center of the screen. Timing your clicks on green is the core skill to develop. The points you earn per shot feed into upgrades for your three stats.

Meter colorWhat happensPoints impact
GreenBall soars high, maximum distance gainedBest reward
Yellow/orangeBall moves partway forwardModerate reward
RedBall barely bounces off the groundLittle or no reward

Upgrades and the locker room

Between shots you can visit the locker room to change your player character or the court background, though some options are locked behind upgrade milestones. Earned points go into three stats: strength (how far each green-meter click sends the ball), speed (how fast the meter cycles, giving you more reaction time), and bounce (how the ball behaves on contact). Max out all three stats and the game unlocks a full slam-dunk sequence that is the closest thing it has to a final goal.

Basketball Orbit FAQ

Is Basketball Orbit free to play?
Yes. The game is completely free. You play it in your browser with no download and no account needed.
Can I play Basketball Orbit unblocked at school or work?
Yes. It runs entirely in a browser tab, so it works on school or work networks wherever browser games are permitted. Nothing needs to be installed.
How do I slam dunk in Basketball Orbit?
Get close to the hoop by clicking repeatedly while timing the color meter on green. Once you are within a few feet, click and drag your mouse to aim the arc directly into the basket. Hitting green at that point almost guarantees a clean dunk.
What do strength, speed, and bounce do?
Strength increases how far each click sends the ball. Speed affects how manageable the color meter cycle is. Bounce controls how the ball reacts on contact with the ground or rim. All three are upgraded with points you earn from successful shots.
Does Basketball Orbit work on mobile?
Yes. The game supports touch controls on phones and tablets, and it also runs on Chromebooks. Tap instead of clicking and the rest of the mechanic is the same.
Is there an end to the game?
There is no fixed final level, but the practical goal most players aim for is maxing out all three stats and landing a full slam dunk. After that you can keep playing to beat your own scores or try different locker-room character and background combinations.
